In my most recent work I have used the theme of human relationships with other animals and nature, which is rich with imagery and imagination.  Within my paintings I try to connect the world of the imagination with the world of reality, and realize the symbiotic relationship they have.  Patterns  fascinate me-their reliability, their predictability and their necessity to nature. They are everywhere, yet disguised and seemingly random. Patterns comfort us. They make us feel safe in an unpredictable world.  I often embed them hidden behind transparent layers of encaustic paint. Often the paintings are at first glance simple yet on closer inspection a complex world reveals itself.  I see my paintings as silent conversations: conversations that intrigue and motivate the viewer to examine their own ideas and beliefs.
