Press Release

The Salt Pond Project is an intimate look at the salt ponds along Seaport Boulevard in Redwood City. For three years, Felton was granted permission to photograph these ponds on site while the salt was being harvested. Her color landscapes and abstract images reveal a hidden beauty seen only by those with direct access to the ponds.

"Many people know they exist," says Felton, "but few of us have ventured out to see them or were permitted such close access. This project gives the public an insider's view to the beauty of these ponds which are no longer in use." Former owner, Cargill Salt, has sold this Redwood City property, which is slated for development and restoration.

Felton's work is entirely color. Her images are first created using traditional slide film. Select images are then scanned and color corrected, etc. on the computer. Felton's goal is to produce a print that is true to the original image. Her final Lightjet prints are highly archival.

The gallery is located at 1018 Main Street on the corner of Middlefield and Main Street in Redwood City.
