Susan Wolf introduces all new 3-D work in her show "Water and Light." Using elaborately painted stoneware, she provides a literal, not just symbolic, treatment of light and water. The viewer will quickly find that Wolf's ceramics do not just sit in an obscure place on the mantle, but instead rest on the floor and protrude from the walls. Working with the theme of water, Wolf created a series of ceramic pieces that are actual fountains that hang on the wall (though some sit on the table). She also illuminates intricately painted vases by turning them into lamps for which the artist has crafted
paper mache' shades.

In keeping with her recognizable style, Wolf strives to create works that are bright, colorful, intellectually amusing, and uplifting. Wolf earned a BA from Reed College in 1967 while doing sculpture, followed by graduate work at UC Davis. Since 1973, her work has been shown in numerous galleries throughout California. "I love working with clay," says Wolf, "because it is as close as I can get to poetry."
