Just the word “Red” evokes an array of feelings and images, which is one reason why eight artists of The Main Gallery will make it the featured show from January 14 to February 15 of 2009.
“Red” stemmed from the idea of exploring one color in particular,” said painter Liz Noerdlinger. “Which color to focus on then launched an exciting dialogue. The choice of red was spontaneous, and an intuitive choice for most of the artists. Red is bold and warm, in the nice contrast to the cooler winter weather. The show extends through Valentine’s Day, and red conveys the emotional connotations of love and passion. Red also signals anger and danger. With so many responses to red, it seemed a fertile field for artistic exploration.”
The artists include Noerdlinger and fellow painters Katinka Hartmetz, Ginger Slonaker, Nancy Terrebonne; mixed media artists Erna Metzger and Jeannine Redon; photographers Cheryl Shepard and Robert Terrebonne. The artists will host a reception on Saturday Jan. 17 from

to

“It was exciting to think about color, pure and simple and to explore it artistically,” said Metzger. “I have never used a lot of red in my work, except maybe earth reds.
