FRED ARON
As a photographer I consider my art a search for ways to capture the beauty that exists in our everyday lives. My job is to express some aspect of what makes that beauty both elusive and ubiquitous. The two-dimensional nature of the photograph itself makes photography inherently interpretive. I see this as an opportunity to explore the nature of a scene or assembly of objects, discover some hidden order that I can express in a way not visible to a viewer present in the scene, and reveal something beautiful that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.
I have been photographing the natural and built environment since I was a child. I have studied architecture, fine art and design at California College of the Arts, and structural engineering at San Jose State University. Having retired from engineering in early 2018, I currently devote myself full-time to photography.
